I had to have a root canal today.

There's a story behind why I had to have it done today.

I have had some pain in my tooth for the past few days. I thought that it was a bunch of different things causing the pain, hoping to put off going to the dentist as I have a bit of a fear of anything that involves the medical profession. Well, last night it just got totally unbearable. I wasn't able to sleep at all last night. I spent the whole night trying different things to make my tooth stop hurting - ice cold water, ice cold Pepsi (which surprisingly helped), anything. I got at the most an hour of sleep combined the whole night from either the five minutes of no pain after the cold water was put on the tooth or from passing out and letting the water drip out of my mouth. I was miserable earlier this morning and decided that I needed to go to the dentist or I wouldn't be able to sleep again.

At this point it would be good to mention that my family currently doesn't have any dental insurance. My grandmother had to pay for my root canal. She's so generous. I love her so much. I owe her so much for everything that she has done for me. She's always told me that since she's got the money to help others in need, she always does. She has given her friends money to get them back on their feet, gave money to my brother and his wife for them to start out, and helps wherever my dad can't make up the difference at this point in his life. Not having a job and living off of substitute teacher wages is rough. I'm happy that I've got a job that's going to give me some money.

Back to the root canal. I spent the whole day putting cold water on my tooth since it was the only thing at this point that kept my tooth from killing me. I went to the dentist at 2:30, got novacaine at 3 and have been in heaven since. The root canal went completely fast and I'm totally happy that I got it done. Now all I have to do is go and get it capped and whatnot, but that can wait a bit and then we can ask the dentist whether or not the $850 the root canal cost includes the crown.

It's been a bitch of an ordeal with the tooth and such, but now I'm happy that I'll finally be able to sleep. I need a long night of sleep. It'll be the best night of sleep that I've ever had.
