I really can't stand the Army commercials that are of a kid who wants to go and join the army talking to his father. You get to watch the kid talk from the perspective of the father. The father acts sheepish and nervous as the kid says that he wants to go off and die he wants to join the military so he can go to college.

I laugh at it.

First, is any kid foolish enough to even consider the military now? You know you're going to be thrown into Iraq or Afghanistan and you've got a very good chance of dying. Kids are better off getting FAFSA money for college and paying off their debts. I'd rather be able to pay off my debts than lose my limbs.

Second, if you do go to Iraq or Afghanistan, you're going to get hurt and you're not going to be able to go to college. Ask some of the kids who have lost their limbs and wanted to go to college after they risked their lives. Well, because the nation was mislead by a bumbling buffoon such as President Bush, people who had hopes and dreams had them shattered. Any kid should be able to realize that going into the military now is pretty much a death sentence.
