So the Supreme Court is keeping the phrase 'under god' in the Pledge of Allegiance. That's fucking absurd, but what more do you expect from a conservative, right-wing Supreme Court. They gotta keep their fundamentalists (fundys) happy and make sure that they remain with the "status quo." Well, fuck that. The government shouldn't force a person to say 'under god' in the pledge because you can't just assume that everyone prays to the same god. What if I was Hindu, or some sort of Pagan religion? That would be a slap in the face to me every single time that I would recite the Pledge. I'd feel like I'd be nothing because I'm not 'under god' as the Pledge says.
But even more, the Supreme Court ruled many years ago that schools and the government cannot require a person to recite the Pledge. It's unconstitutional to require that a person recite anything every day. So why do we have to recite the Pledge in school every day? It's illegal, but no one will ever speak up against it. I don't say the Pledge. I refuse to every single time. I respect the fact that there is a national anthem, but there are some problems that need to be fixed. Yet notice how I didn't capitalize god. I personally don't care for religion. But that's me.
